The first week or two of every school year can come with extra stress for parents of eligible children with special needs as transportation routes show the glitches that need to be worked out.  New routes, drivers, aides and students either added to or taken off established routes tend to cause tension to what may already be a stressful morning for some families.

The Office of the State Superintendent of Education Division of Student Transportation (OSSE-DOT) is the regional transportation system that transports eligible special needs students in the District to school. Parents experiencing challenges with transportation are encouraged to contact AJE for guidance. Parents can also contact the Division of Student Transportation Parent Resource Center (PRC).  The Parent Resource Center is the communication link between the Division of Student Transportation, parents/guardians, school personnel, advocates and social workers. The contact information and hours of operation for the center is: (202) 576-5000 from 5:00AM to 7:00PM, Monday through Friday.
