Back to School Event – Youth Employment & Self-Advocacy Film Screening

The DC Department on Disability Services (DDS), in partnership with SchoolTalk DC, would like to invite you to attend our Back to School Event, “Youth Employment & Self-Advocacy Film Screening,” with the DC Youth Leadership Network.  Join us for a day of fun, food, and film as welcome students back to school with a resource fair, film-screening, and youth panel discussion.  The event will be held on Saturday, September 21st, 2019 from 11am – 3pm at Culture House DC – 700 Delaware Avenue SW, Washington, DC 20024.

The resource fair (11am – 1pm) will feature vendors specializing in Education & Employment, Health & Wellness, and Social & Recreational programming for youth with disabilities ages, 14-24.  The resource fair will be followed by a film screening of “Normal Isn’t Real,” and conclude with a youth panel discussion on employment and self-advocacy facilitated by guest speaker LeDerick Horne.  Current middle and high school students with disabilities, parents/guardians, family members, caregivers, school-based professionals and community partners are all invited to exchange information and resources on Youth Transition Services available in the District of Columbia community.  Refreshments will be provided for attendees.
