Family Navigation
The Family Navigation project recruits parents or primary caregivers of adults and children with special needs that have experience with the health care and social systems. The Family Navigator will thus provide individual support to other families.  If you are interested in being a family navigator email Tatisha West: twest@aje-dc.org, you can also contact her at (202) 265-1730.

Care Coordination
Care coordination engages the families in the prioritization of child and family concerns, development of a care plan, and links them to health and other services that address the full range of their needs and concerns.  The aim is to meet the families’ needs, strengthening the family unit, and improving the system of care.
Community Education
Health with DCPIN is a monthly health series held on the forth Thursday of every month, from 5:30pm to 6:30pm on various health topics.  These trainings are especially useful for parents or primary care givers. Past trainings held under the Health with DC PIN seriesinclude: “Information on Epilepsy” and “Applying for Free Health Insurance.” Contact Tatisha West for a schedule of the upcoming health topics.
Individual Advocacy
At the end of the day, the person most qualified to discuss and address their personal issues is the individual herself. To that end, AJE will be providing training to parents on individual advocacy. These trainings will take place in the form of parent workshops in the areas of leadership building and negotiation, and other trainings on the availability of health resources and social services in the DC area.  Presently we are recruiting parents for our Parent to Parent Leadership Institute. This is a free training to all DC area parents held over two Saturdays. For more information please contact Tatisha West. .
