Bilingual Education Support Specialist
Principal Responsibilities:
This description incorporates the core responsibilities of the position. Additionally, this position has flexible hours and a non-traditional work schedule.
The incumbent in this position will:
Provides direct advocacy and support to parents and youth with special needs
Serves as an intermediary between the public school system and parents seeking to advocate for improvement in their children’s education
Assesses the individualized needs of families and formulates strategies to meet those needs in a timely and cost effective manner
Attends educational meetings with parents and interfaces with DC public school personnel and Attorneys
Maintains and updates records, monthly reports and client files in an ethical and time sensitive manner
Develops and cultivates community relationships
Contributes to quarterly newsletter, website and other publications
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
High school diploma PLUS a minimum of two (2) years of experience working with children, youth and families in a community based setting
Exemplifies positive leadership
Fluent in Spanish
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Great interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload
Intermediate knowledge of standard software applications (including but not limited to MS Word, Excel, Access, Publisher and Outlook)
