Linked below are resources and information on how to support LGBTQ+ kids with disabilities. It is AJE’s desire to make sure there are safe spaces for all youth to live and thrive in and outside of their classroom. Take moment to look at the information below where you can learn about creating safer spaces in schools for LGBTQ+ youth and much  more.

We also encourage readers to explore the many resources available at the DC Office for Human Rights  https://ohr.dc.gov/ and https://ohr.dc.gov/page/lgbtqia-resource-portal and to learn more about how the DC Office for Human Rights supports youth in DC.

For example, if a youth is experiencing bullying in a school, each school has a designated Bullying Point of Contact and you have a right to file a complaint and request an investigation. To find out who your school’s Bullying Point of Contact is, visit this link . If you feel as though the school has violated the Youth Bullying Prevention Act or need additional support, contact OHR’s Youth Bullying Prevention Program at bullyingprevention@dc.gov or call 202.519.3333.

You may file a discrimination complaint if you believe you have been discriminated against in educational institutions based on a protected trait in DC.
