Resources from Mary’s Center: September Highlights

AJE would like to share helpful information and resources from the latest Mary’s Center newsletter with our families. Please see below for more details.

Dental Clinic Information

Our Dental Emergency Diversion Program provides DC residents with a safe and convenient way to access urgent care for dental emergencies and avoid visiting the Emergency Room.

Services include:

  • Severe toothaches
  • Swollen or bleeding gums
  • Dental infections
  • Broken or chipped teeth
  • Other urgent dental care

You do not need to be an established patient to benefit from this program. We take most dental insurance plans, and if you do not have insurance, we will charge based on our sliding fee scale. New and existing participants can make an appointment by calling at (202) 545-8023.

NEW Substance Abuse Treatment Program from Young Adults

Last month, we shared a blog post highlighting the common signs of addiction in young people, along with practical ways for families and caregivers to support their loved ones on the path to recovery. Recognizing the importance of early intervention and compassionate care, we are excited to announce the launch of a new program dedicated to helping young adults aged 18 to 25 overcome addiction.

Our comprehensive approach ensures that young people receive not only personalized medical treatment but also the emotional and psychological support necessary for lasting recovery. Our team of experienced healthcare providers and dedicated team work closely with the young person, tailoring a treatment plan that addresses their unique needs and circumstances.

Recovery is a collaborative journey, and we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people struggling with addiction. If you or someone you know could benefit from our services, we encourage you to make an appointment today.

Simply call us on (202) 253-1150 to get started. Together, we can create a healthier, brighter future for our young adults.

Upcoming Insurance Deadline

If you know someone who lives in DC and does not qualify for Medicaid or Medicare, they may qualify for DC Healthcare Alliance. The deadline to apply is October 1, 2025, so if their plan expires at the end of this month, they need to recertify now.

Encourage folks you know who may need additional information about Medicaid or DC Healthcare Alliance enrollment to join our weekly virtual meetings on Tuesdays from 5-6 PM. If they prefer in-person support, they can visit our team at the Shrine of the Sacred Heart located at 3211 Sacred Heart Way NW in Columbia Heights, DC, every Sunday in September. Mary’s Center staff, along with partners from local organizations, will be ready to assist them with personalized guidance on insurance enrollment.
