We only use this space a few times a year to ask for your help, and today is one of those days.  As this #GivingTuesday enters its final few hours, please consider helping AJE continue to support DC families.

AJE knows that our families depend on us for honest advice and accurate information as they navigate the complex DC education landscape and seek appropriate health care services for their children and young adults.  We know that the families we work with are working hard to achieve the best outcomes they can for their children and we are honored that they trust us enough to ask for our help and support.

That is why most of the time our blog posts are about resources, opportunities to engage with policymakers, trainings and community events. We are working hard every day to give families the skills and information they need to advocate for their children, while also working to improve the system they are being asked to navigate.  That is why you see us at DC Council, at the State Board of Education, and at stakeholder meetings, elevating the experiences and stories families have shared with us with the goal of improving the systems families are required to navigate to access what their children need.

This #GivingTuesday, please consider helping AJE continue to support DC families.

All of the donated funds will go directly towards providing families with the training, resources, individual support, and legal assistance they need to ensure their children have access to appropriate education and health services.

For example, a donation of –

• $25 – will support a parent’s participation in a Parent Café to connect with other parents to collectively address the needs of children in DC.

• $100 – will provide a family with an hour of advice and counseling to help them address their issue or concern.

• $500 – will provide 15 families with Know Your Rights training to help them effectively navigate and advocate for what their children need.

• $1,000 – will provide a family with legal assistance to ensure their children’s right to a free appropriate public education.

• $2,500 – will provide 100 families with information and resource kits.

• $5,000 – will provide a family with legal representation at a hearing or trial.
