Talent Search: Casting Call for the 2026 Advocate for Equity Awards Program

AJE would like to share an opportunity with our families who sing, play an instrument, or perform poetry/spoken word. The DC Department on Disability Services (DDS) is hosting a talent search for the 2026 Advocate for Equity Awards Program. Please see more information below to learn how to participate.

 

Do you know a talented performer with a developmental disability who deserves the spotlight? The Department on Disability Services (DDS) is looking for two to three performers to showcase their talents at the 2026 Advocate for Equity Awards Program. As the culminating event of our Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month celebration, this event honors individuals and businesses who speak up for disability rights, support inclusion across all parts of community life, and work to ensure everyone has fair access to opportunities.

We’re Searching for:
• Singers
• Instrumentalists or small ensembles
• Poetry or spoken word artists
(Please note: dancing performances cannot be accommodated for this program.)

⏰ 3:00 – 5:00 PM
📍 DDS, 250 E St, SE

Selection Process:
Please send your recommendations to Jocelyn.Harris2@dc.gov by Friday, March 13. DDS will preview interested performers on Monday, March 16 and Tuesday, March 17 to make the final selection.
