Webinar: College Readiness – Your Neurodiverse Teen and Academic Self-Advocacy

AJE is delighted to share this FREE webinar discussing the shift from high school to college for parents and neurodiverse teens on April 13, 2021 from 7:00pm to 8:00pm! The presenters bring both high school and college expertise: Andrea M. Brenner, PhD is co-author of “How to College: What to Know Before You Go (and When You’re There)” and an experienced college transition educator. Laura Lorenzen, Founder of District Special Education Partners is a special education advocate and parent coach.

Parents of high school students will learn how to make this a gradual, less daunting challenge including:

  • How to help your child build their academic self-advocacy skills and the ability to independently problem-solve now so they can thrive when they transition to college
  • The differences between academic expectations in high school and in college
  • How to shift from the role of high school parent to college parent and the limitations imposed on college parents by FERPA regulations

By learning the right self-advocacy skills now, your child will be able to request accommodations in college, find information, and comfortably ask for help. REGISTER HERE!
