DC COVID-19 Vaccination Information for Children age 5 and older

COVID-19 Vaccination for Children Ages 5-11

Children 5-11 years old are now eligible to get vaccinated against COVID-19. The vaccine is safe and lowers the chance of children getting and spreading COVID-19. The vaccine is 90 percent effective at preventing symptoms of COVID-19. Children will receive a smaller dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine than adolescents and adults, approximately one-third the dose that people 12 and older get. Like the vaccine for people and 12 and older, children ages 5-11 will need to receive two doses of the vaccine taken three weeks apart.

DC Health is hosting vaccination sites for children ages 5-11. The list including locations and hours of operation is available at coronavirus.dc.gov/page/get-vaccinated. Parents who are unable to bring their child have the option to print and sign a form allowing a trusted family member to accompany their child to the pop-up vaccine clinics.

Walk-Up Vaccination Locations for Age 5 and Older

Any child between the ages of 5-17 may receive their first or second dose at any of the vaccination clinics listed online here.

Students age 12-17 who receive their first shot at Fort Stanton Recreation Center or Capitol View Neighborhood Library can receive a $51 gift card or a pair of AirPods by receiving their first shot while supplies last. These incentives are available to District youth ages 12-17 and students ages 18-21 who are currently enrolled in a DC school seeking a high school diploma.

Parents or guardians who bring their children to Fort Stanton Recreation Center or Capitol View Neighborhood Library are also eligible to receive one $51 VISA gift card per child who gets vaccinated.
