Connecting Families to Research: AJE Partners with the CONNECT Study

Advocates for Justice and Education (AJE) is proud to partner with Children’s National as a community-based organization supporting the CONNECT Study.

What Is the CONNECT Study?
The CONNECT Study, Community Networks’ Needs and Experiences with Care & Treatment, seeks to learn about families’ experiences getting physical health care and mental health care for their kids and teens in the DC Metropolitan Area.

If you are a parent and you join the Study, you will complete a 30-minute survey about your child’s health care. Some parents may also be invited to:
– Join a focus group
– Participate in 1 interview
– Take part in a photo/video journaling activity

If you have a teenage child (ages 13–17), you can also choose if they could be invited to complete a focus group or an interview and the photo/video journaling activity as well.

If you are a young adult (aged 18-21), you can join yourself to share about your own experiences and complete the 30-minute survey. You may also be invited to join a focus group or participate in an interview, and a photo/video journaling activity.

You can receive up to $205 for participating. If you complete the following activities, you will receive:
– $15 for the survey
– $75 for a focus group (if invited)
– $60 for an interview (if invited)
– $55 for the photo/video journaling activity and $75 for the photo/video journaling activity discussion (if invited)

Joining the study is your choice. Your child’s care at Children’s National will not change if you say no.
