AJE’s Youth Advocacy Board members will be given a space to discuss issues that are often overlooked. There will be opportunities for members to participate in training that will help enhance their advocacy skills and learn how to serve on the other board in the community (the State Board of Education, the Out of School Time Advisory Board and other youth advisory boards), give testimony, and develop leadership skills they can use in their life and to benefit the community.
Who can become members of the AJE’s Youth Advocacy Board?
Young people ages 14–22, who are DC residents, are enrolled in school and have an IEP or qualify under Section 504 are eligible to become members of the YAB. Whether you dream of speaking out, want to develop leadership skills, or simply seek connections with others who understand your journey, the AJE’s Youth Advocacy Board is a great place for you to shine!
If you are a youth or know a youth that would be interested in joining, access the application here: https://forms.gle/vqTu8mzN1yeaGNS38
