Boundary and Student Assignment Study – Lunch and Learn on Feb. 6 at Noon.

AJE wants to let families know about this opportunity from the Deputy Mayor for Education to learn more about how the Boundary Study will impact students with disabilities.

Deputy Mayor of Education

The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Education (DME) is holding a virtual Boundary and Student Assignment “Lunch and Learn” for families with students who have special education needs or Individual Education Plans (IEPs). Please join us on Tuesday, February 6 at 12 pm. The goals of the meeting are to:

  • Ensure families are aware of the 2023 Boundary and Student Assignment Study
  • Share the current self-contained special education options for DCPS schools and how the DC Special Education Cooperative works.
  • Share ideas about how to help improve families access to these services focusing on assignment policies.
  • Hear feedback and suggestions from families about these student assignment ideas, and answer questions related to the study.

Staff members from DCPS’s Division of Specialized Instruction and the DC Special Education Cooperative will also be in attendance. During the meeting, panelists will not be able to answer specific questions about students’ IEPs but panelists will provide a link where families and staff can follow up separately.

Please register for the meeting using this link and share the attached flyer with your networks!
