Parents, students and interested citizens, the DC Council is continuing to do oversight hearings this week. There will be an oversight hearing of the DC Public Charter School Board (PCSB) this Thursday, March 14 at 10.a.m. On Friday, March 15 at 10 a.m. there will be an oversight hearing on the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE). Both hearings will take place in the Wilson Building. If you have thoughts, concerned, words of wisdom that you would like to share with the new Education Committee (chaired by Council Member David Catania and including Council Members Wells, Alexander, Barry and Grosso) this is a wonderful opportunity. If you would like to register to provide testimony you, please contact Jamaal Jordan jjordan@dccouncil.us or call (202) 724-8061. If you can not testify in person, you can still submit written testimony to Mr. Jordan. And anyone who would like help developing their testimony – we at AJE would be happy to help. Call (202) 678-8060 and ask for Suzanne.

Also, Mayor Vincent Gray and Jennifer Leonard, interim deputy mayor for education, will hold a public hearing on the Fiscal Year 2014 budget for the city’s public schools. The hearing will be held at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 12 at TurkeyThicketRecreationCenter, 1100 Michigan Ave. in Northeast. It is too late to register to testify, but you can submit written testimony Brandon Starkes at brandon.starkes@dc.gov  on what you think the priorities should be for school spending this year.
