DC Families Sharing Their Genetics Journey Video Project

Have you met with a genetic doctor or genetic counselor to talk about whether there could be a genetic cause for a health condition in your family? Do you feel that other families in DC might benefit from the same opportunity? As part of The New York Mid-Atlantic Caribbean Regional Genetics Network and Advocates for Justice and Education, Inc.’s “DC Families sharing their genetics journey” video project we are inviting DC families like yours to share their stories about how a genetics appointment or experience helped them. Our goal is to raise awareness about genetics in DC to let other families know what to expect and help them feel more comfortable in starting their genetics journey. Let’s work together to help families explore how genetics can help them and their families.

If you are interested, we invite you to take part in a professionally taped and edited Zoom interview that will last 30 minutes to no more than an hour. Most likely, each family experience would be showcased in a 30 second to 2-minute video. Families that are selected to participate will be offered a $150 gift card in exchange for their time and will be asked to sign a release for their consent to participate in the project. If you are not selected in the first round, we hope to include you in a possibly larger-scale project later. If you are interested, please use this form: English Sign-Up Form (https://tinyurl.com/GeneticsEnglish) and Spanish Sign-Up Form (https://tinyurl.com/GeneticsSpanish).  On our website, watch a brief video to learn more about this project (https://nymacgenetics.org/dc/).
