OSSE has published its updated School Year 2026-27 School Immunization Policy and Key Dates one-pager on its website. A few year ago, DC changed how they handled student vaccination, and now only students in pre-K 3, kindergarten, 7, or 11 are subject to school exclusion for noncompliance with vaccination requirements.

DC Code § 38–501 et seq. requires all students to stay up to date on all required immunizations or risk being removed from school, absent a valid exception. Additionally, students are required to submit a Universal Health Certificate and an Oral Health Assessment to the school each year according to DC Code § 38–601 et seq. Schools must verify every student’s immunization compliance as part of enrollment and attendance (see here for more information or see OSSE’s link on immunization policy).
